How long does Spam last in fridge

Spam can be kept at room temperature for two hours after opening before becoming bad. But what if you want to store it for a long time? The best way is to store it in the fridge. But the question would surely arise in your mind how long does Spam last in fridge?

After opening, Spam keeps in the refrigerator for roughly 3 to 5 days. Wrapping each slice in aluminium foil or cling wrap will prevent them from drying out. After that is finished, you may store the Spam in an airtight container to preserve it fresh and stop humidity from building up and swiftly ruining it.

The flavour of the Spam will quickly disappear in the arid environment of the fridge if it is not properly wrapped or stored. Here is a step-by-step guide for doing it:

1. Take the desired amount of Spam out of the can. If you do it this way, you won’t have to bother about covering and opening the can every time you want a slice of Spam.

2. If you want, slice the Spam thinly. When you’re ready to cook, it will be simpler to grasp a slice if you do this. Likewise, some plain cling wrap would do if you want to freeze them. It would be your next move, though.

3. Wrap each piece in aluminium foil or cling wrap. The Spam will stay wet and avoid drying out if you do this.

4. Slices of wrapped Spam should be placed in an airtight container and then kept in the fridge. Eat the food within 3 to 5 days for the greatest flavour and texture.

After these 3-5 days, you can safely continue to eat open and refrigerated Spam for another 7–10 days if you don’t mind the flavour or texture change. Your Spam is probably no longer safe to consume after that.

Remember that even in the refrigerator, perishable foods like Spam will ultimately go stale. While putting something in the fridge doesn’t stop decomposition, it does slow it down.

Therefore, regardless of how long it has been chilled, you should always watch your Spam in the fridge and never eat any that doesn’t look, smell, or taste the way it should.

The Spam in the refrigerator would last for 3 to 5 days. After that, it would start reflecting changes in its smell and taste. If you want a longer life for your Spam, you can freeze it. It would extend the life of Spam to a great extent.

Take the Spam out of the can and put it in a freezer bag before putting it inside the freezer to freeze. Since Spam must be sliced into pieces, we advise cutting it into small pieces before placing it in a single layer in a freezer bag.

Considering that freezing your Spam in one piece could make it tough to consume without eating the full portion at once. You can only take what you need from the freezer and leave the rest frozen for the future by first slicing the Spam.

Although canning does destroy bacteria, it does not completely rid the product of them. Bacteria can flourish on open canned products kept at room temperature. The reason for why canned foods, including Spam, should always be stored in the refrigerator after being opened.

Now, as you know how you can store Spam in the refrigerator and how long does Spam stay fresh in the fridge, you can easily enjoy your Spam for a longer period.
